The Bloody Turkey

It's amazing how logistics change the instant you have a kid. For example, picking up a turkey from the store.

I didn't put much thought into how I would get the turkey from the car into our place. Luckily, the basket under the Snap 'n Go stroller frame is huuuggee, so I was able to fit the turkey, chicken, and 4 days worth of groceries below the stroller.

Unfortunately, the turkey leaked blood all over the bottom of the basket. (How exactly does one clean up turkey blood from a non-removable stroller basket?)

In other news, peanut is so excited to see everyone tomorrow (today?) for turkey day!

...he may even be eating his own hands and trying to break out of his swaddle in anticipation.

Baby's first trip to Urbana

Last weekend, we headed to Urbana for some good old fashioned deer hunting. Of course, peanut had to don his hunting gear. (We are totally prepared, yo.)

I'll spare you of the picture of 3 deer hanging from a tree with their insides wide open. You're welcome.

Of course, any trip down south wouldn't be complete without the obligatory trip to Farm and Fleet.

For once, I wasn't the only one who made a beeline for the baby clothes section. So while I was distracted by the flipping adorable Christmas clothing portion, Hubs found the Carhartt section.

Ok, hold up, people.

Baby. Carhartt.

I can't express just how awesome this is. I'm not sure how I was able to walk away from the rack without purchasing everything.

Fortunately for Hubs (and our credit card payment), we managed to hold each other back and only purchase two items.

Oh, yes. Those are baby Carhartt bibs (= overalls for those of you who are city folk).

As for the rest of the trip, peanut was a trooper.

We even saw a repeat appearance of our little Armdini.

But most importantly, peanut spent some quality bonding time with family.

...even if he was passed out the whole time.

Small Little Packages

We found an adorable little present outside our door tonight from our building manager.

I can't wait to see our little peanut in it :)

Gettin' My Drink On

This summer, I'm getting my drink on the only way I am allowed to for the next 3 months - via Starbucks. Preferably iced caramel macchiatos (pictured), or iced white chocolate mochas.
Summer dreaming thanks to @starbucks
(Mom - you must try the iced white chocolate mochas ASAP. It's all the rage, at least with Pin and me. So drive your boat on down to the Sbux on 4 before you hit up tomorrow's certain slew of garage sales. Kthxbai.)

Baby K is on the Way

You've probably noticed that I haven't blogged in...ohhhhh...5 months or so.  Those of you that know us well know that there's a reason for that.  A big reason that's oh-so-small in size but can somehow reduce you to  going to bed at 8PM and peeing 35 times in the middle of the night (only a slight exaggeration).

Untitled Yep, this little one will be joining us in early September.

As for how it all went down?  Well, I took a test on January 2nd that so happened to be positive.  We had just spent the day running around doing who-knows-what, including getting 2 boxes of Dunkin Donuts K Cups for my brand new Kuerig coffee maker that Hubs had so thoughtfully given me for Christmas (bad timing much?).  For some reason, I just wasn't feeling "right," so I decided to make a cup of coffee (again, bad timing) and take a test just to put my mind at ease.

As the second line rather quickly appeared, I'm pretty sure I stopped breathing...through teary eyes, I immediately said quite the prayer of thanks.

Untitled And then I freaked. the heck. out.

I ran out of the bathroom, positive test in hand, right into the kitchen where Hubs was putting away some groceries.  By this time, I was nearly hyperventilating.  The poor guy had no idea I was even taking the test, so I'm pretty sure he thought I was completely insane.  I somehow choked out, "I...I...I...I'm...PREGNANT!!!" followed by a ridiculous amount of sobbing and choking.  (Like I said, practically hyperventilating.)

And bless my Hubs.  He took me in his arms, held me tight, and told me to just calm. down.

...and then he asked me if the test had pee on it.

The next few days, I was in a complete blur.  Through my terrified/elated tears, I called my family asking them to pray for the health and well being of this not-so-little miracle.  The first doctor's visit confirmed the pregnancy, and sent me on the way with about a bazillion things to read.

Untitled The second doctor's visit provided the first pictures of our little peanut, who was officially a week younger than we thought.

Untitled And what better way to tell one's boss than at Schnitzel Platz after she's had about half a das boot, as Hubs is so proudly displaying in this picture.

Untitled

There are obvs some benefits to being pregnant...like my mommy taking care of all of my 1st trimester cravings...

Untitled

...and Hubs doing extra housework while I rest...

Untitled

...and free chocolate at the Melting Pot.

Untitled

After the first trimester, I finally allowed myself to have a decaf Starbucks coffee.  I'm not exaggerating when I say that I had tears in my eyes when I finally took that first sip after 4 long months of no coffee. (Clearly, considering I even took a picture of it.)

Untitled

And now, with only 3 days left in the 2nd trimester?  Now, things are getting real.  Registering has been done...

Untitled

...our first shower present has arrived...

Untitled

...and the crib is here (although still in a box in the hallway).

Untitled

All I can say is that I can't wait to meet our not-so-little miracle in just 12 weeks.

Organization? What's that?

Hubs has a very interesting way of emptying the dishwasher.

Although I'm surprised that most of the knives even made it into their own slot...even though it's not actually the knife slot.

Details, details...

December in a Nutshell

Warning: This is probably 23 posts in one post, so prepare yourself for about a thousand pictures.

Apparently, the last part of November and all of December came and went pretty quickly.  Between starting a new job and the holidays, I was pretty darn busy.

So, what was I up to?  Observe!

Ok, this isn't really an activity, but can you believe the flipping color of this tree?!

Of course, the DG was absolutely stunning at the end of fall.

DG Tree Lighting Ceremony

Every year, the DG has a tree lighting ceremony downtown. It's pretty cheesy, with boy/girl scouts singing Christmas carols and the local HS band marching around, but I absolutely adore it. And by adore, I mean that I prance around saying "Christmas Tree! Christmas Tree!" repeatedly while my poor husband walks by my side to see the whole event.

See?  Scary eyes = extreme happiness

Hot Pot Night!

Every month, the girls and I get together for a "girl's night." Usually, it consists of a visit to The Melting Pot for Ladies Night(hollahhh cheap cheese and chocolate fondue!), but this time, we decided to take a culinary adventure into Chinese Hot Pot. (Well, for myself and Cheryl, anyway. Sandy happens to be Chinese and Mrs. Chen happens to be married into a Taiwanese family, so this was nothing new for them.)
Don't ask what all this stuff is, because I honestly have no idea.

Note to self:  Do not attempt to make peanut sauce without a recipe

The verdict? It was pretty good...but the sauce using raw eggs and the fish balls still freak me out a bit...

Pin's Christmas Open House

I'm not gonna lie - my sister knows how to throw a beautiful party. She thought of everything, down to a hot chocolate bar with assorted toppings. As usual, everything was beyond pretty and sparkled galore. I just wish I would have taken more pictures!

Christmas in Penfield

Every year on Christmas Eve, we travel down to Penfield to Hubs' Grandma's house. This year, there was added excitement due to the arrival of beautiful little Olivia. And the fact that Hubs got a remote control tank that shoots plastic pellets.

Don't ask.

Christmas in the DG

As if we hadn't celebrated enough, we had a beautiful meal at our place to celebrate Christmas. Braddy's parents even came!

The most fitting present?  The chef's coat, hat, and apron given to him by his parents.  He looked adorbs.

Jackson's 4th Birthday

I. cannot. believe. Jackson is 4 already. Seriously, where has the time gone?!

"Spin me!"

Also not pictured? Patti's birthday (forgot camera), Christmas Party with the Denny's (forgot camera), and New Year's Eve (nothing too special compared to what the rest of the fam had going on).

I. am. exhausted.
