Not long ago, Hubs' Uncle Carl turned 70 and Aunt Louise (hi!) had the awesome idea to throw a surprise birthday party for him at her house. Annnddd at pretty much the exact second that idea was verbalized, Hubs and his dad were chomping. at. the. bit. to plan the menu.
Of course, they eventually got their way.
So on a Friday night, we headed up to Wisconsin to prep the food.

The weather the next day was calling for thunderstorms, but that didn't stop us from setting everything up outside.

Although some people were more cut out for the nighttime prep session than others.
And just as everyone started to arrive, the weather took a turn for the worse.
Enter: Hurryandpickeverythingupandcoverthegrill mode.
...And then the hail came.
But soon enough, the skies cleared long enough for us to get the first course in.
And for some ridiculous reason, I didn't get a single picture of the birthday boy, other than on his cake.
Oh well, there's always the 75th birthday party that I'm sure Aunt Louise wants to throw at her place again, right? Right??
